Human beings make decisions through three levels of Satisfactions—our needs, wants, and desires.
Wild animals do not. When pressure rises, their behavior is driven entirely by instinct, specifically the four F.A.S.T. Emotions : Fear, Anger, Sadness, and Temptation. These emotions help animals satisfy their needs, but nothing more.
That is because F.A.S.T. Emotions were designed for survival, not fulfillment.
Humans, however, live with deeper longings. When we allow Fear, Anger, Sadness, or Temptation to guide our behavior, it rarely gives us what we want—and it almost always conflicts with what we truly desire, especially meaningful relationships and genuine connection.
And when we act F.A.S.T., something important is lost: we compromise the tools of loving intention—the words in our Toolbox for a Joyful Life that describe how we treat ourselves, how we love our family and friends, and how we care for society. These tools only come alive when expressed through our Intuitive Attributes of communication, empathy, faith, and sacrifice.
Acting F.A.S.T. shuts this down.
This violates our Karmic Responsibilities—specifically creating karmic burden instead of karmic merit, the opposite of what was available in that moment. The emotional result is Anxiety.
The karmic burden activates the Five Sources of Anxiety, which distract us from presence by occupying our feelings and thoughts. In doing so, they drain our Limited Resources—our only two: time and energy—pulling us away from the one place where life can be enjoyed and our Gifts can be used: the present moment.
This is why the Obligations—Awareness, Challenge, Patience, and Honor—are essential. They guide us back into presence before instinct takes over:
Awareness helps us recognize what we are physically doing, emotionally feeling, and spiritually thinking.
Challenge asks us to question the impulse before we act. This gives us the freedom to choose what we would like to do, feel, or think next.
Patience gives us space to grow, learn, and return to presence.
Honor reminds us to act in a way that reflects the person we desire to be, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
When we follow these Obligations, we stay present. We use our three Gifts—physical, emotional, and spiritual—wisely. We choose the right tool from our Toolbox. We express it through our Intuitive Attributes. And we move closer to the relationships and the life we truly desire.
That is why we must remember:
Don’t act F.A.S.T.
Slow down.
Choose consciously.
Create karmic merit.
Return to presence.
